Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has opened up on his friendship with a Newcastle United player.Dorgu joined the Red Devils from Lecce in January and has since made 25 appearances for the Red Devils under Ruben Amorim. It certainly hasn’t been easy for the Danish international, with the Manchester giants still struggling to get used to life under their Portuguese manager.Amorim has been widely criticised for his refusal to change his 3-4-2-1 system even despite a run of poor results. It cannot be an easy situation for his players but Dorgu has been perhaps the main beneficiary of it, establishing himself as an option in the left wing-back role.Indeed, it seems he has a good friend in Newcastle United’s William Osula on whom to lean.Patrick Dorgu speaks about friendship with William OsulaOsula has played alongside Dorgu at youth level for Denmark. They made four appearances together during the 2023/24 season for the Danish U21s, for a total of 283 minutes.MORE NEWCASTLE STORIESSpeaking to ViaPlay Sport Denmark, Dorgu opened up on his friendships within football.“I became friends with [William] Osula, Chido, and Tochi [Chukwuani],” he said.William Osula used to train with Manchester UnitedNewcastle paid around £10million to sign Osula from Sheffield United in 2024, although it’s thought the deal could eventually rise to £15million.The 22-year-old looks set for a future on Tyneside, too. While he almost left during the summer transfer window, Newcastle are now pleased Osula is staying at the club. His brace against Bradford City in the Carabao Cup made him the club’s top scorer for the season with three goals and he’ll no doubt be called upon during Yoane Wissa’s injury absence.Interestingly, Osula had a trial with the Manchester United academy during an earlier stage of his career.Upon signing for Newcastle earlier this summer, former Man United winger Anthony Elanga confirmed as much.“He’s like my little brother,” he said of Osula.“I’ve known him for a long time. When I was at Manchester United, he came on trial when he was 12 so I’ve known him for a very long time.”Osula has made 25 appearances for Newcastle, scoring five goals.
