Transfer portal notebook: College football's spring window opens with a team setting the pace, players to know

The 2025 college football transfer portal's spring window opened Wednesday morning with 3,195 players in the FBS database. By this article's end-of-day filing, there were already (3,922) transfers, which means more than 700 FBS players were on the move on the first of a 10-day window.

It was the most hectic opening day to a spring portal window ever, which helped break last year's single-cycle record (3,883) for most entries.

And there are still nine more days to go!
