The Minister in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has rejected calls for Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo to be removed from his role.According to him, Otto Addo’s successful qualification of the team for the 2026 World Cup, marked by an impressive performance, is a testament to his tactical prowess. The minister emphasised that the former Borussia Dortmund coach should be given the mandate to adequately prepare the team for the Mundial, rather than being lambasted and discredited for his efforts.Check out Antoine Semenyo’s rating against Nottingham Forest“For the dismissal of the coach who guided us on this qualification path. Mr Speaker, I believe these calls are unfortunate and misplaced. The man who has led us to qualification in stellar fashion is best placed to prepare the team for the competition itself."Given how national teams operate these days, there is hardly any time for extended training camps to hone tactics and prepare thoroughly,” he said while speaking on the floor of Parliament.Kwakye Ofosu warned that sacking Otto Addo could derail the team’s progress, as a new manager may not have sufficient time to prepare the squad effectively.“So it would be a tragic mistake to dismiss the coach and hire someone new who will have very little time to prepare the team. The competition is about seven months away, and within that period, the team will only camp three or four times. That time is simply too short for any experimentation,” the minister added.Meanwhile, Ghana Football Association president, Kurt Okraku has stated that Otto Addo will lead the Black Stars to the World Cup.Watch Ofosu Kwakye's remarks below:SB/JEMeanwhile, watch the latest Sports Check interview with Alex Kotey, the GFA Referees Manager below:
