Western United can confirm it has reached an agreement for the transfer of goalkeeper Tom Heward-Belle to J2 League club Montedio Yamagata, effective immediately.The 27-year-old joined United from Sydney FC last season and made 22 Isuzu UTE A-League Men appearances, playing a further four matches in the Australia Cup.Across the 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign, Heward-Belle had a number of quality performances and was voted the Fans’ Player of the Season at the WUFC Gala last year.Ahead of his departure, Heward-Belle reflected on his time at Ironbark Fields and looked back with gratitude.“It was an honour to be part of an historic period at Western United and I am grateful for the opportunities this Club gave me in the past two seasons,” he said.“I would like to thank the coaches, staff, my teammates and the fans for making this a special place to be at.
