Danish press make ‘fire back in his eyes' point for 'red hot' Rasmus Hojlund as he scores again

Rasmus Hojlund rediscovering some of his lost form after leaving Manchester United was always likely, but nobody saw this version coming.

Less than two months after leaving Manchester United, Rasmus Hojlund is one of the hottest strikers in world football, never mind one of the finest young strikers.

Hojlund started off on fire at Napoli and earned Antonio Conte’s trust immediately, and he has extended that scoring streak to Denmark now.

After another goal for the national team, making it two in two for this international break, the Danish press made a loud and clear “bombing fire back in his eyes” point about the striker.

Rasmus Hojlund can’t stop scoring

To sum up the spectre of Man Utd, one only needs to look at a single stat regarding Hojlund.

Hojlund scored six goals in six games for the Danish national team before joining Man Utd, scoring twice in 20 games after.

Since he left United, he has scored four in four games. It’s like Man Utd sapped all his powers when he couldn’t handle the weight of expectations at Old Trafford.

In the October international break, Hojlund scored twice against Belarus in a 6-0 thrashing and added to his tally with another goal in the 3-1 win against Greece to end the break.

DR wrote how Hojlund looked like a “washed-up version of himself” for two years at United, and he has “bombed fire back in his eyes” at Napoli.

Another piece from DR reported the change in stature of Hojlund and his confidence, writing how the striker was ‘in charge’ of the celebrations as he celebrated in front of the Greek fans after scoring.

Tipsbladet rated him 4/5, writing, “He has probably never been better than he is right now. A gigantic contrast to the international matches in June, where he struggled with it. Right now, Rasmus Højlund is red-hot and full of self-confidence. Was ice-cold when he was given a huge gift by the Greeks.”

Tipsbladet also reported Christian Norgaard saying Hojlund is in “full force” at the moment, putting everything into the game.

Campo praised Hojlund’s anticipation for the goal, writing about how he ‘sniffed out’ a Greek pass and slotted it home confidently to end the game as a contest.

Hojlund will next be in action on October 18 for Napoli as they travel to Torino, where he will want to keep his scoring streak alive.
