Latest Manchester United injury news with the latest on Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Lisandro Martinez

Matheus Cunha of Manchester United

Manchester United have entered their first international break of the 2025/26 campaign with just three Premier League matches under their belt.

United have picked up four points from a possible nine on offer with just one win across their first three Premier League fixtures. Ruben Amorim and Co. went into the international break on the back of a 3-2 victory over Burnley, which was secured thanks to a stoppage-time penalty from Bruno Fernandes.

Many members of the squad are now across the globe with their respective national teams, while some have remained at Carrington to work on their fitness ahead of the return of top-flight football. Some players in the United squad are also dealing with injury concerns in the early weeks of the season.

United will return from the international break to face rivals Manchester City on September 14 in the Manchester derby. Here, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at the injury news and return dates for the United squad ahead of that fixture.

Matheus Cunha

Matheus Cunha suffered a hamstring injury during United's win over Burnley last weekend.

The summer signing from Wolves has since been withdrawn from the Brazil squad for this round of international fixtures and is a doubt for United's clash against City later this month.

On social media, Cunha posted a message on Wednesday to provide optimism for United supporters.

"What an incredible environment, it’s great to be here," wrote Cunha. "I’ll be back soon, always with joy and gratitude. Thanks for all the messages."

Potential return date: Unknown

Mason Mount

Mason Mount also picked up an injury during the victory over the Clarets last Saturday.

Amorim confirmed that Mount played for 30 minutes with an injury against Burnley before being substituted and admitted at the time that he did not know the severity of the injuries to the England international and Cunha.

“It was hard to lose Cunha and Mason Mount, because Mason Mount played 30 minutes with an injury," Amorim said after the win over Burnley.

“I’m concerned about that, because they are so important for us. We will see. I don’t know [how they are], I don’t know. We will check them. We need those guys really bad to be really competitive.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez has been sidelined with a knee injury that he picked up back in February.
