Liverpool could sign 23-goal forward for free and three others as transfer speculation continuesA look at the potential free agents Liverpool could add to the squad this summerSane (left) is out of contract this summer (Photo by Image Photo Agency/Getty Images)There has been plenty of talk about Liverpool losing three key players for free this summer. But could the club dip into the free agent market themselves come the end of the campaign? As things stand, none of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk or Mohamed Salah have agreed new deals at the club. It is an issue Arne Slot would surely want resolved sooner rather than later.Article continues belowLiverpool will be making plans for the summer themselves though and after Richard Hughes spoke last year about the club trying to be opportunistic, perhaps they will cast their eye over the players out of contract in the coming months. And looking at the list of those who fit the bill courtesy of TransferMarkt, there a plenty of potential bargains.Jonathan DavidJonathan David has long been linked with a move to one of European football's biggest clubs. This summer, he will likely have his pick of suitors. The Canada international has caught the eye for years with Lille and this term he's proven he can perform at the highest level in the Champions League too. He has scored 23 goals in all competitions, nine of which have come in Europe. One of those was at Anfield when the Reds beat Lille in the group stage. While his side were on the back foot for long spells that night, there were occasions the forward burst into life and showcased his explosive talent. With Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz struggling in recent weeks - not to mention Salah's situation - a number of forward additions are surely on the cards at Anfield this summer. There is a lot about David that would suggest he fits the bill as an option.Leroy SaneLiverpool know all about Leroy Sane. The Germany international was a regular for Manchester City during their title run-ins with the Reds and netted four times against Jurgen Klopp's side in sky blue.It was a surprise when City sanctioned his sale to Bayern Munich in 2020 and in the years since there have been stints of ups and downs for Sane in Bavaria. However, his time at the club looks almost certain to come to and end this summer.Sane still has quality. This season he has been a rotation option for manager Vincent Kompany, but has still notched seven goals and four assists in the Bundesliga. As a left-footed player who cuts in from the right flank, he could potentially offer alternative to Salah from the same wing. However, given he's now 29, it would be a surprise to see the Reds sanction the big wages Sane would demand in the free market.Jonathan TahAnother area Liverpool may look to strengthen is centre-back, especially if Van Dijk was to move on. While nobody can quite compare to the Dutchman, Jonathan Tah could be a fine alternative. The Germany international has been a dependable performer in the Bundesliga and last season played superbly as Bayer Leverkusen clinched a league and cup double. Bayer have not hit the same heights this year, but Tah has been consistent at the heart of their defence. The 29-year-old has developed his work in possession under head coach Xabi Alonso, something that would undoubtedly be important to Slot in any defensive acquisition. Tah's physicality and defensive awareness would potentially make him ideal for the Premier League too.Angel GomesThe one major signing Liverpool did come close to making last summer was Martin Zubimendi. So another player in that area will surely be on Hughes' agenda again in the coming months. With reports now claiming Zubimendi will move to Arsenal, Liverpool may have to look at an alternative to the Real Sociedad playmaker. One possible option could be Angel Gomes, who looks set to follow David out of the Lille exit door.Article continues belowAdmittedly, Gomes is a little more attack-minded than Zubimendi. Technically, the 24-year-old is superb and while defensively he still has a lot to learn, in a deeper midfield position he's been able to dictate many matches in Ligue 1 this season. Now a full England international, he would be an attractive prospect to a number of clubs in the Premier League. Given he's a former Manchester United academy star, Liverpool landing him on a free would sting for plenty at Old Trafford too.
