Andrew Thomas has surgery, is expected to miss the remainder of the season

New York Giants star left tackle Andrew Thomas is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 NFL season, per a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Thomas reportedly had surgery Wednesday morning to repair a Lisfranc injury to his foot. He had an MRI on Monday following the Giants’ 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football, and it seems Thomas and the Giants spent Monday and Tuesday going over their options regarding the injury.

Thomas’ injury was feared to be significant and there was speculation that he could miss extended time. So it isn’t a big surprise that Thomas had (potentially, at this point) season-ending surgery. That said, it’s far from welcome news as the Giants’ offensive line had been performing at its highest level since at least 2017.

Thomas himself claims that the injury was initially suffered on the Giants’ third quarter scoring drive against the Bengals and he played through the pain for the remainder of the game.

It remains to be seen how the Giants will adjust to life without Thomas, or how well the offensive line will weather his absence.
