Man United receive simple Ruben Amorim sack instruction - 'His time has come'

Ruben Amorim is under severe pressure at Manchester United amid a dissapointing start to the season which sees his team sitting 14th in the Premier League table

Manchester United have been told to sack head coach Ruben Amorim after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Brentford. The Reds' loss at the Gtech Community Stadium saw Igor Thiago bag a brace before Mathias Jensen added a late goal to secure victory for the home team.

Benjamin Sesko netted his maiden United goal in the first half, but it was of little consequence to the final outcome. United were left licking their wounds after Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty and defensive blunders were made in west London.

The defeat leaves Amorim's side languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table, having garnered a mere seven points from their first six games. They have only managed to find the back of the net seven times so far.

And former Southampton star Matt Le Tissier has suggested that Amorim's time is up at Old Trafford after Saturday's loss to Keith Andrews' team.

“I’m a big fan of giving managers time to turn things around at football clubs," he told Football Insider. “I don’t know what Man United fans think, but surely Amorim has been given enough time to sort that team out?

"Still, there seems to be very little sign of massive improvement in that team. I have to think that his time has come to an end. I don’t think it will be long before the board makes that decision.

"It’s probably the right decision, as much as I don’t like seeing managers getting sacked, but this has been going on for long enough now. I’m not sure that the board and Ratcliffe’s patience can last much longer.”

United host third-placed Sunderland next Saturday (3pm kick-off UK time) with the Black Cats having made an excellent start to life back in the top-flight. The Reds then face a daunting trip to Premier League champions Liverpool after the international break.
