Liverpool star makes feelings clear on fans' most-wanted summer transfer target

Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez had a chance to audition in front of Liverpool's higher-ups on Saturday, and there's at least one person who would welcome the left-back at Anfield.

Kerkez is one of the players touted as a potential long-term replacement for Andy Robertson. The Hungarian was brought to Bournemouth by the Reds' current transfer chief Richard Hughes, and talk of a reunion has grown throughout the season.

The left-back thought he had bagged himself an assist, only to be flagged offside after feeding David Brooks to slot home. That would have brought the Cherries level at 1-1, but instead they would end up losing 2-0 as Mohamed Salah added to his first-half penalty with a strike after the break.

A move to Anfield would also see Kerkez join his international colleague Dominik Szoboszlai on Merseyside. After Saturday's game, the pair added fuel to the fire, with Szoboszlai sharing a photo of the pair together on an Instagram story.

Szoboszlai has featured in all 21 of Kerkez's senior games for Hungary. He captained the Magyars for the first time in 2022, and also wore the armband for their Euro 2024 campaign.

It is no surprise on its own to see an international captain pose with one of the most promising young players in that same national team. Even so, plenty of Liverpool fans have been left dreaming of the pair becoming team-mates at club level as well.

"Bring him to Anfield," one fan wrote on social media, with another saying "Szobo must do the right thing here". Another posted the simple message of: "Agent Szobo".

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola didn't expect to offload any more players before the transfer window shuts on Monday, but Liverpool could yet make a summer push. "Who knows, maybe we will have a crazy money offer for someone, like we have seen with other teams!" Iraola joked in his pre-match press conference.

Iraola is still potentially in the market for a new striker after losing Evanilson and Enes Unal to season-ending injuries, bit doesn't expect his squad to be stretched any thinner after a series of exits. Philip Billing has joined Napoli on loan, with Max Aarons spending the remainder of the season with Valencia and Mark Travers linking up with Middlesbrough until May.

While Liverpool could yet dip into the market, manager Arne Slot indicated the focus remains on keeping the current squad on board. Chief among that number is Salah, who is out of contract in the summer.

"Everyone wants him, including us," Slot said before Saturday's game. "We want to extend as well. That is clear. I am not surprised Saudi wants him but I wouldn't be surprised if every other country wants him as well."
