Di Lorenzo explains how Milan beat Napoli and De Bruyne anger: ‘We’ll talk about it’

Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo believes that Milan were better than Napoli in two key areas of the game, which is the reason why the PArtenopei fell to a 2-1 defeat, and has had his say on Kevin De Bruyne’s frustrated reaction to being subbed off in the second half: ‘We’ll talk about it’.

Napoli fell to their first Serie A defeat of the season in a 2-1 defeat to Milan in San Siro on Sunday evening. Early goals from Christian Pulisic and Alexis Saelemaekers gave the Rossoneri enough of an advantage to hold onto, despite Pervis Estupinan’s second-half red card and De Bruyne’s subsequent goal from the penalty spot.

The result means that there are now three teams level on points at the top of the Serie A standings after five matches: Milan, Napoli and Roma all sit on 12 points. Juventus sit one off them in fourth place on 11 points.

Speaking to Rai after full-time, Napoli captain Di Lorenzo had his say on the events of the game, including De Bruyne’s response to being taken off after Milan had been reduced to 10 men.

“It seems a bit much to talk about the De Bruyne ‘case’,” Di Lorenzo told Rai (via Milannews.it.)

“These are things that happen in football. It’s nothing serious, we’ll talk about it internally, but it was nothing major.”

He continued: “As for the defeat, it’s our first in the league and it’s disappointing, especially as it’s come at a time where we have some difficulties in defence. We expected a different sort of test.

“Absences can’t be an alibi, injuries are part of every season, and players have to be ready to replace those who are not available.”

Di Lorenzo went on to analyse where things went wrong for Napoli on Sunday evening: “We lacked a bit of precision in our passing today. We had our chances, or potential chances, which we could have made more of.

“This is a defeat that hurts. We’ll analyse the mistakes, especially those two goals we conceded at the start of the game, which put Milan on the right track today. Details make the difference in games like these.”

Putting it simply, Di Lorenzo believes that Milan were better than Napoli in two fundamental aspects of the game: “Everything is decided in two areas: They were stronger in front of goal and defended very, very well, especially in aerial duels.

“Their defenders were well structured. We, on the other hand, were not nasty enough in some situations, and those two goals could have been avoided. In the end, they made the difference and were better than us in the key moments of the game.”
