Dravid, who has been seen in a wheelchair or on crutches, suffered the leg injury ahead of IPL 2025 as he was playing cricket in Bengaluru.

Dravid has been seen sporting a cast and in an electric wheelchair as he oversees his team’s preparations and games.

“Recovering well. I got some great support. Just, unfortunately, at my age, playing cricket matches wasn’t a great idea I think. But it’s ok. It happens, so it’s fine," Dravid said ahead of Rajasthan’s match against Chennai.

Nitish Rana smashed a blistering 36-ball 81, while leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga starred with a four-wicket haul as Rajasthan opened their account with a hard-fought six-run win against Chennai.

Promoted to number 3, left-handed Rana dominated the Chennai bowlers, smacking 10 fours and five sixes en route his brilliant innings, but the Royals struggled towards the back end and just about managed a par-score of 182/9.

Chennai, who had not chased a target over 180 since 2019, faltered again, managing 176/6 in the allotted overs.

The chase was built around captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 63, but it was not enough as Chennai succumbed to their second successive defeat.

The legend of Dhoni’s last over finishes in the Indian Premier League is fast becoming a story of yesterday as he couldn’t muscle Maheesh Theekshana and Sandeep Sharma.

Despite the defeat, Chennai still managed to stay above Rajasthan in the points table, with the former at seven and the latter at nine.
