Revealed: The year's biggest transfer value COLLAPSES - Neymar, Leroy Sane and Victor Osimhen on list of plummeting-price flops... but who beats them all and which Arsenal star is in the top five?!

As the festive period comes to an end, clubs across the world will be preparing themselves for the upcoming January transfer window.

But they may want to act cautiously with their business after a new study revealed the top transfer value collapses from 2024 - including one Arsenal star.

Premier League clubs splashed out £1.75bn in summer and leagues such as the Saudi Pro League also spent lucratively, though not all of those deals paid off.

According to Transfermarkt, the biggest transfer value collapse - between January 1st and Boxing Day - was suffered by PSG star Randal Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman joined the side in a £76.4m deal from Eintracht Frankfurt in last year's summer transfer window - but his value has now fallen by £33million (€40m).

After starring for France in the 2022 World Cup, Kolo Muani was a highly sought-after name in French football. But his performances since joining PSG have left a lot to be desired.

One Arsenal star also creeped into the top five for the biggest transfer value decrease

The forward has scored just 11 goals from 53 appearances for PSG, this season, has just two goals from his opening 10 Ligue 1 matches.

Just after Kolo Muani in the list are Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sane, who have both suffered a £29million (€35m) decrease in their transfer value.

Nigerian forward Osimhen was the talk of the transfer window this summer after being linked with a move from Napoli to Chelsea.

However, a move to England never materialised and instead, after being ostracised from Napoli's squad, opted for a last-minute loan move to Galatasaray.

German international Sane has seen his playing time at Bayern Munich reduced since the summer arrival of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

Sane has started just five Bundesliga matches for Vincent Kompany's side since then and has managed just three goals from 11 total appearances in the league.

Following on from Sane and Osimhen are Gabriel Martinelli, Kingsley Coman and Neymar - who's transfer values have all dropped by £25million (€30m), according to the figures.

Arsenal forward Martinelli has come under criticism in recent weeks amid his struggling performances for the title-chasing side.

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman has suffered a similar fate to teammate Sane

The Brazilian has four goals from his 15 appearances in the Premier League this year and questions have been raised as to whether Arsenal need to invest in a new winger.

Coman has endured a similar fate to teammate Sane, who has struggled to nail down a starting place in the Bayern Munich line-up after their summer business.

Neymar, meanwhile, has also suffered a substantial transfer value decrease after his struggles with injuries since moving to Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian joined Saudi side Al-Hilal back in 2023 but has played just seven matches for the side after being sidelined with injuries.

He made a comeback from his ACL injury back in October but then picked up another injury during Al-Hilal's Asian Champions League match.

Just outside of the top 10 in Transfermarkt's list are the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Jack Grealish, Gabriel Jesus, Evan Ferguson and Kevin de Bruyne.

French forward Nkunku officially joined Chelsea on January 1st in a deal worth £53million but has struggled to find a place in their starting line-up since then.

The 27-year-old has started just two Premier League matches for the Blues and is more often than not only involved in their European fixtures.

Man City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne has also seen a significant drop to his transfer value

Grealish meanwhile has suffered a tough year in a Man City shirt - having failed to find the back of the net for the champions throughout the entirety of 2024.

Brighton striker Evan Ferguson had been tipped for a big-money move after last season however the Irish forward has also found himself on the periphery this year.

Similarly to Nkunku, Ferguson has started just two Premier League matches in the 2024-25 campaign - scoring just one goal for the Seagulls.

Finally, Kevin De Bruyne has seen a significant drop in value amid a season derailed by injuries for the Belgian. The midfielder was sidelined in October and has struggled to rediscover his best form.

Another surprising name in the list is Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who's transfer value has dropped by £16.6million (€20m) in the past year.
