Premier League confirm six late fixture changes with supporters left furious

The Premier League have been forced to adjust six fixtures after UEFA announced the schedules for the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League on Saturday

More than half of all Premier League clubs have been affected by the latest fixture amendments - with less than three weeks' notice given to supporters in one case. Top flight chiefs have announced six fixture changes as a result of UEFA announcing their calendar on Saturday morning, affecting 11 clubs' diaries.

Nine English teams are involved in European competition this season - six in the Champions League, two in the Europa League and one in the Conference League. The draws for the league phase of each competition took place last week and UEFA's announcement has forced the Premier League to change the date and/or kick-off time for six domestic matches.

Firstly, Newcastle's mouth-watering Thursday night clash with Barcelona in the Champions League later this month has forced their trip to Bournemouth to move to 2pm on Sunday, September 21, having previously been scheduled for 3pm on the Saturday.

The following weekend, Tottenham will now host Wolves at 8pm on Saturday, September 21. That game has been brought forward due to Spurs' participation in the Champions League the following Tuesday, travelling to Bodo/Glimt in Norway.

Moving into that slot at 2pm on Sunday, September 28 will be Aston Villa's home game against Fulham. This is because Villa will be in Europa League action the Thursday prior.

It's a similar story for Everton versus Crystal Palace which will now be played at 2pm on Sunday, October 5, as Palace play in the Conference League on the Thursday of that week. Palace are the only club to have two fixtures changed, as they'll also face Arsenal at 2pm on Sunday, October 26 due to their European involvement.

Liverpool's trip to Brentford, meanwhile, has been pushed back from 12:30pm to 8pm on Saturday, October 25. This is due to the Reds playing Eintracht Frankfurt away in the Champions League on the Wednesday beforehand.

Supporters have expressed their frustration at the changes, with one Wolves fan bemoaning: "8pm on a Saturday night for Spurs vs Wolves is bonkers! Should've just moved it back to 3pm."

Another member of the Molineux faithful pointed out: "8pm KO in london.. accommodating the travelling fans again - last train 9.42." A third asked: "How do they expect us to get back after the spurs game? Absolute joke @premierleague."

Newcastle fans also won't be pleased with UEFA, who scheduled their game against Barca for the only week where Champions League fixtures are played on a Thursday. "Ridiculous time & date, how can anybody with kids etc get there & back in a day without disrupting their sleep & education," a Toon supporter argued.

In their announcement Premier League added: "Changes to fixtures from November 2025 to January 2026 as a result of participation in UEFA club competitions will be confirmed at the same time as the broadcast selections for the respective month."
