SKIPZ AFL Injury Update: Three tests and Day a week away

0
Three Hawks will need to prove their fitness in the hope of taking to the field this weekend, while Will Day is closing in on a return to football next week.

Sam Butler, Bodie Ryan and Seamus Mitchell are a chance to suit up this weekend, provided they pass a fitness test later this week.

Noah Mraz (knee) and Josh Weddle (back) have both continued their progress, with the club to provide a further update on their recovery in due course.

High Performance Manager Peter Burge shared this week's update on the trio of tests in Butler, Ryan and Mitchell, as well as Day.

Sam Butler – Leg (Test)

“He’s moved back into training over the weekend and today fully trained with us, he’ll train again on Thursday, and we’ll make a judgment call on his availability on the weekend, but it’s looking really positive. So he’s feeling much much better with a bit of a de-load and we’ll re-load again and go this week, hopefully back into match play and finish the year strongly.”

Bodie Ryan – Clavicle (Test)

“He’s returned to contact training now, we anticipate that he’ll complete full training on Thursday and be available for the weekend and return to match play this weekend.”

Seamus Mitchell – Ankle (Test)

“Late in the week (last week) we trained Thursday and he flipped his ankle unfortunately in match play right towards the end of training which ruled him out for the weekend, but he’s improved quite rapidly and did most of our training session today and will fully train Thursday and I would expect available for the weekend also.”

Will Day – Foot (1 week)

“Really good. Fully trained today, we expect him to fully train on Thursday. He’s been on a really specifically tailored program and built around how he’s going to return and the way we’re going to train him from week to week once he returns, based on the injury he’s had and the surgery, and some of the things we’ve reviewed with his program as well. But he’s had a fantastic block of training and we expect to see that same progression this week into next week, so it's quite exciting.”
