The Ottawa Redblacks have shut down franchise quarterback Dru Brown for the rest of the 2025 season, according to TSN 1200 play-by-play man AJ Jakubec.

The 28-year-old native of Palo Alto, Calif. was benched during last week’s loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders during which he threw for 141 yards and three interceptions. During his second year in Ottawa, Brown has thrown for 2,389 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions over nine starts, posting a 2-7 record.

Brown is under contract for next season on a contract worth $462,500 in hard money with a maximum possible value of $471,500.

Dustin Crum, who has gone 2-3 over five starts this season, will make the start against the Montreal Alouettes on Monday. The 26-year-old native of Grafton, Ohio has thrown for 1,609 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions this season and carried the ball 71 times for 393 yards and 11 scores.

The Redblacks were eliminated from postseason contention following last week’s loss to the Roughriders, marking the fifth time in the last six seasons that team won’t play playoff football.

The Ottawa Redblacks (4-11) will visit the Montreal Alouettes (8-7) at Percival Molson Stadium on Monday, October 13 with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m. EDT. The Redblacks were eliminated from playoff contention with a loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders this past week, while the Alouettes were on a bye.

The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 16 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 1200 in Ottawa and TSN 690 in Montreal.
