Martin though has left two players out of his squad for the Champions League clash, with both player’s not in his plans at the club.

As per the Daily Record, [19 August], Jefte is nearing a move to Palmerias whilst Nedim Bajrami has been left out with Martin preferring to have recent loan signing Jayden Meghoma in the squad.

Football Insider Verdict

Martin is continuing his Rangers re-build by allowing players to leave that are not in his plans.

Bajrami will not be hanging around Ibrox if he is not being selected in matchday squads, whilst Jefte is already on his way out of the Ibrox exit door.

Jefte has been a defensive liability for Rangers at times, with the full-back focused on contributing in attack rather than focusing on his defensive work.

Appearances 56 Goals 1 Assists 4 Jefte’s Rangers stats in all competitions.

His display against Viktor Plzen, alongside Tavernier’s own defensive weaknesses, highlighted Martin’s need to improve his full-back options.

Martin is well stocked in midfield, and Bajrami has not been given much of an opportunity aside from a cup tie against a side two league’s below.

Rangers still have work to do if they’re to match the calibre of squad at the disposal of their fiercest rivals Celtic, but Martin is being ruthless in hope that performances on the pitch improve.
