'I couldn't have asked for a better start'

Southern Brave captain Georgia Adams speaking on Sky Sports: "What start. So pleased. The girls prepped and planned hard. The bowlers set the tone and we played a a great fielding unit, the girls had loads of energy. I couldn't have asked for a better start."

On the team strengths: "We have experience in our side this year. Sophie Devine coming in has been brilliant and she has brought nuggets of knowledge about Beth Mooney. Our risks played off today which is pleasing."

On winning the toss: "We are never sure what you get here at Manchester. Getting out there settles the nerves. We thought it would be faster than usual and then we knew what to expect with the bat."

On Lauren Bell's performance: "She hits tough lengths and gets a lift with her height."

On Maddy Villiers: "Maddy was outstanding too. She was unbelievable in the field as well. Being skipper to this team is a wonderful thing."

On Luke Wood's coaching: "Luke is not too different to Lottie [Charlotte Edwards]. They have similar values. He is cool, calm and laid-back. He is also thorough with his planning."

On Laura Wolvaardt: "She is an amazing person. She is very quiet and just focuses on her game. She brings class and doesn't focus on power. She has the technique to play amazing cricket shots."

On the importance of the first win: "Momentum is massive. We learnt that last year. Getting that early is great."
