India have announced their squad for the continental tournament on September 19 (Tuesday). A total of 15 of the best players in T20Is have been named in the squad. However, there have been several notable snubs as well. Two of the biggest names not part of the squad are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer. As there has been a lot of criticism regarding their exclusion from the squad, former batter Basit Ali has revealed what would have happened to them if they had played for Pakistan. In an interaction with Kamran Akmal on YouTube show ‘Game Time’, Basit Ali said that players like Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj would have been awarded Category A central contracts had they been in Pakistan. He was especially critical of Team India ignoring Shreyas Iyer.“Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami agar Pakistan mein hote na, ye log A category mein hote (These would have been in Pakistan’s A category)," Basit said.“Iyer ke saath jyadati ho gayi hai. Unko team mey hona chahiye (It was unfortunate that Shreyas Iyer has not been picked)," he added. What Ajit Agarkar Said On Shreyas Iyer's Non-SelectionWhen asked about Shreyas Iyer's absence from the Asia Cup 2025 squad, Ajit Agarkar said that he would have to wait for his chance as there is too much competition for a place in the squad.“With regard to Shreyas, who can he replace? No fault of his, nor is it ours. At the moment, you can just pick 15.
