Nick Kyrgios impressed on his return to the ATP Tour, even if his Brisbane International run didn’t last long.

Tennis fans were impressed by Kyrgios in his doubles opener alongside Novak Djokovic, with the pair then losing in round two.

And Kyrgios has been tipped by Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard to ‘be back’ in the coming months after their first round battle.

Mpetshi Perricard beat Kyrgios in the Brisbane International singles, with the duo playing out a 7-6(7-2), 6-7(4-7), 7-6(7-3) thriller.

The Frenchman has gone on to secure a third round spot after beating ATP Tour number 18 Frances Tiafoe in straight sets.

Why Nick Kyrgios was very unlucky upon his return from injury

Kyrgios could not have done much more at the Brisbane International, both in his singles and doubles adventures.

Mpetshi Perricard may only be 21, but he is a rising star, and has proven with his current run that he is not to be messed with.

Moreover, the Frenchman, who now faces Jakub Mensik in the quarter-finals, was voted the ATP Most Improved Player of the Year for 2024.

In the doubles meanwhile, Kyrgios put on two fantastic shows for the fans as he played alongside Djokovic.

After a hard-fought opening round win, their tournament was ended only by number one seeds Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus.

Kyrgios is now resting his wrist ahead of the Australian Open, with fans surely desperate for the home favourite to fully recover for the first Grand Slam of the season.
