Liverpool might actually have a £50m trump card to help them sign Alexander Isak this summer

Liverpool have been incredible in the transfer window so far, having already completed three signings and seen the sales of a few players as well.

The Reds have signed Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez and have sold Caoimhin Kelleher, Nat Phillips, and Trent Alexander-Arnold so far and have a deal agreed with Bayer Leverkusen for £35m.

Reports suggest that Liverpool have a few more signings planned, in particular a new striker and another centre-back; however, they will first focus on outgoings.

Among the players linked with a move to Anfield this summer is Newcastle star Alexander Isak, and Liverpool may have a chance to strike a clever deal with the Magpies.

Liverpool could use Harvey Elliott to strike a deal with Newcastle for Alexander Isak

Isak is said to be Liverpool’s dream signing, but he won’t come cheap, with Newcastle reportedly valuing him around £120m.

While that is a lot of money, an opportunity could now arise for Liverpool to use their young star Harvey Elliott as part of a deal to secure Isak.

TBR Football previously reported Newcastle’s interest in the England U21 hero, and as per our latest, Elliott is now ‘very high’ on Newcastle’s radar, with Liverpool hoping to recoup around £50m for the former Fulham man.

With Newcastle having already missed out on Joao Pedro as well as Bryan Mbeumo, they are now ready to make a push for the Liverpool star.

And the Reds could try and use Elliott as part of a player-plus-cash deal to sign Isak. They made a similar attempt in the deal to land Wirtz, offering Elliott as part of a deal to Bayer Leverkusen. However, the 22-year-old was not keen on a move to the German side.

This suggests that Richard Hughes could try and offer a similar deal to the Magpies to sign the Swede striker.

If they can pull this off, it would be considered an excellent deal, given that they are expected to recoup around £70m from Nunez’s sale this summer.

Harvey Elliott is keen on a move away from Liverpool

A move to Newcastle might interest Elliott, who has previously admitted that he could leave Liverpool in search of regular playing time.

The young Lion has recently hinted at a potential move, admitting that while he loves the club, he will have to make a mature decision that is best to further his career.

Speaking to the media while on duty for England U21, he told Hayters TV: “I think it’s just a situation that me and you know the team on my behalf have to have a conversation about.

“I’m coming into an age now where I’m 22, I’m going to be 23 next season, and I don’t really want to be wasting years of my career, because it’s a short career. You don’t know what’s going to happen, like injuries and things, and you know it could shorten it.”

“I think it’s a situation that, as I’ve said before, I need to reflect. I need to see if I’m content in doing what I’m doing and how can I improve as a player.

“That’s the main thing, really. I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself and the best player I can be.

“And if that’s to go somewhere else, then it’s a decision that I’m going to have to make. And, you know, I just need to see what happens.”
