Here's a look at the complete list of changes in the Indian team for the upcoming tour of England from the last Test series played against Australia.

The Indian men’s cricket team will travel to England next month to take part in a five-match Test series. The series opener is scheduled to take place at Headingley in Leeds from June 20, and the next four matches will be played in Birmingham, Lord’s, Manchester and The Oval, respectively.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced India’s 18-member squad for the upcoming tour of England on Saturday, May 24, and as many as 13 players who featured in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar have managed to retain their place for the upcoming assignment.

Shubman Gill will captain India in England, and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will be his deputy. Gill was preferred over Jasprit Bumrah as the new captain of the Test team after Rohit Sharma’s retirement from the five-day format of the game on May 7.

Here’s a look at the complete list of changes in the Indian Test team for the upcoming series against England.

IN: Karun Nair, B Sai Sudharsan, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh are new faces in the Indian team for the Test series against England. While Nair is making a comeback after eight years, Shardul last played a Test match for India in December 2023 against South Africa at SuperSport Park in Centurion, and Kuldeep’s last Test appearance for India was against New Zealand in Bengaluru from October 16 to 20 last year.

Sudharsan and Arshdeep are part of the Indian Test team for the first time in their careers.

OUT: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harshit Rana, Sarfaraz Khan, Devdutt Padikkal and Tanush Kotian were part of India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 squad, but they will not feature in the upcoming series against England. While Rohit, Virat and Ashwin have retired from Test cricket, Padikkal missed out due to an injury, whereas Sarfaraz and Harshit have been dropped along with Kotian, who is yet to play a Test match.
