The incident occurred during the 22nd over of England’s innings when Root and Prasidh appeared to have a verbal confrontation after a delivery. It is still unclear what Prasidh said to the England batter, but the exchange was intense enough for the umpires to step in and calm things down. Root, known for his calm demeanour, did not escalate the situation further. However, the brief flare-up added a layer of drama to what had already been a lively day of cricket.Earlier, England had dominated the first session, racing to 109/1 at lunch after bowling India out for just 224. Zak Crawley led the charge with a brisk 52 not out, supported by Ben Duckett ’s quick 43. India’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, often missing their lengths and lines. After lunch, India struck back. Prasidh Krishna removed Crawley for 64 with a short ball that was well caught by Ravindra Jadeja . Soon after, Ollie Pope was dismissed lbw by Mohammed Siraj. The on-field umpire initially gave it not out, but India successfully reviewed the decision.Despite the wickets, the Root-Prasidh incident became one of the major talking points as both teams fought hard in the final match of the series. At the time of writing, England are 152/3 in 28 overs, continuing to score at a rapid pace.
