A number of sporting events have been postponed due to heavy rain.In the All-Ireland Ladies SFC, Dublin's clash with Leitrim at Parnell Park will not go ahead.Match referee Gerard Canny carried out a pitch inspection prior to the 2pm throw-in and deemed it unplayable. The match has now been re-fixed for Sunday at Clann Mhuire GFC with a 4pm throw-in."Tickets purchased for the original fixture will remain valid for tomorrow's game," the Ladies Gaelic Football Association added. In the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division, a number of games are off.Shamrock Rovers were due to host Waterford in Tallaght but it was called off this morning, as was the much-anticipated clash between Shelbourne and Athlone at Tolka Park.Peamount United and Bohemians is also off after a pitch inspection at Greenogue Park. Also, today's race meeting at Downpatrick has been cancelled.A seven-race card had been scheduled to go ahead this afternoon from 1.40pm but after an early morning inspection, conditions were not deemed suitable for racing."Unfortunately, following heavier than predicted thunder showers, Downpatrick is now unfit for racing and following an inspection we have no option but to cancel the fixture for today," said IHRB course clerk Brian Hamilton."Since our update at 8am we've had a further 17mm of rain and it's still raining heavily at present."There is now surface water lying on the track and the volume of rain in such a short space of time has left the track unfit for racing."With action scheduled at Downpatrick on Sunday, there will be an inspection at 7.30am tomorrow morning to ascertain whether that seven-race card can go ahead.
