Alexander Isak is set to make his Liverpool debut following a tumultuous summer for the Swedish striker, who is set to earn more than £60million over the next four years

Following his summer transfer saga, Alexander Isak can finally focus on playing club football again as he prepares to make his Liverpool debut. The Swede went from Newcastle hero to public enemy No. 1 as he angled to leave the Magpies for the Premier League champions.

He ended up training away from Eddie Howe’s squad and released an explosive social media statement, accusing Newcastle of breaking promises after the Reds’ opening bid was rejected. The Magpies eventually gave in to Isak’s demands, selling him for a British record £125million just before the summer deadline.

Amid the drama and debate, Isak has played just 20 minutes of competitive football this season, and that was for his country in a World Cup qualifying defeat to Kosovo. But he could finally make his Liverpool debut at Burnley on Sunday afternoon, most likely from the bench. Isak's net worth

Prior to his move to Liverpool, Isak had an estimated net worth of around £25million.

In addition to his football earnings, which would have received a big lift following his move to Newcastle in 2022, he has a number of lucrative endorsements, including a boot deal with Adidas, and investments. His wealth will only go in one direction following his move to Anfield (see below).

Huge Liverpool contract

Isak was one of Newcastle’s top earners, with a weekly wage of around £120,000. He is thought to have more than doubled his money at Liverpool, where he will reportedly bank £300,000 a week.

That is still some way short of the Premier League's biggest pay package, which Erling Haaland collects at £525,000 per week. He also won’t be the top earner at Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah (£400,000) and Virgil Van Dijk (£350,000) ahead of him. Still, over the course of his four-year deal, Isak is slated to take home a whopping £62.4m.

Newcastle message

While Newcastle fans have been left fuming by Isak’s conduct, many of his now former team-mates insist there are no hard feelings.

When asked about Isak’s parting message in the players’ WhatsApp group, Magpies defender Dan Burn revealed, while on England duty: “He put a message in the chat just saying that he was leaving, and thanks for the memories, all that sort of stuff, and the lads replied.

“Yeah, of course it was all positive. I think Alex is getting what he wants, and now we've just got to focus and do what we can with the players that we've got.”

Burn said he understood the disappointment felt by Magpies fans, saying: “It’s only natural. Alex is probably one of the best three strikers in the world at the moment, and as a Newcastle fan personally, obviously, you’d love him to want to stay.

“But I know that’s football, and there are players who’ve come and gone from Newcastle before. Alex is my mate at the end of the day, so it was a tough situation, but I’m glad that we’re getting a good return on a player that we’ve had, and he’s getting the move that he wanted.”
