Latest Manchester United news as Ruben Amorim remains under intense pressure following his side's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on SundayManchester United manager Ruben Amorim is facing a crucial three-game spell as pressure continues to mount on the Portuguese. The Reds have had a disappointing start to the season, securing only four points from their first four Premier League matches and currently sitting 14th in the table.Since taking the reins at United ten months ago, Amorim has managed just eight victories in 31 league games, leading to speculation that he's losing the trust of some senior players.Despite assurances from the United board that Amorim still has their full support and there are no plans for a managerial change, it's reported by the Mirror they will evaluate the team's progress after the next three fixtures.United, who suffered a 3-0 defeat to local rivals Manchester City in Sunday's Manchester derby, will face Chelsea at home this Saturday. This will be followed by an away match against Brentford and a home game against newly-promoted Sunderland, before the international break.Amorim is under immense pressure following a poor start to the new campaign, especially considering last season's performance where United finished 15th under his management - their worst league position in 51 years. The first match after the international break will see United take on reigning champions and fierce rivals Liverpool. If there is no improvement in form or results before this challenging trip to Anfield, club officials may feel compelled to consider a managerial change.Despite privately maintaining their confidence in Amorim, it's worth noting that United's football leadership team gave similar assurances to Erik ten Hag, before his tenure was abruptly ended nine league games into the previous season.United's upcoming league match against Sunderland will mark their eighth of the season and Amorim is fully conscious that his position will remain under scrutiny unless he can steer the team towards a series of victories."It's not a record that you should have in Manchester United," he said of his side's form following Sunday's loss at The Etihad. "There are a lot of things that you have no idea what happened during these months, but I accept that."But I'm not going to change. When I want to change my philosophy, I will change. If not, you have to change the man."Potential successors to Amorim include Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, former England head coach Gareth Southgate, Fulham's Marco Silva and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola. The Mirror adds that Mauricio Pochettino, ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss and current USA head coach, who was previously linked with the United job when Ten Hag was appointed, is also 'in the frame' for the Old Trafford hot seat, should Amorim be dismissed. Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.Make sure you don't miss out on the latest United news by joining our free WhatsApp group.
