Iga Swiatek sends message to Jannik Sinner on Instagram as she reacts to their Wimbledon title wins

Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner are the new Wimbledon champions, having both clinched their maiden titles at the grass court Grand Slam.

Swiatek was stunned after winning Wimbledon, which she did via a ruthless 6-0, 6-0 final win over Amanda Anisimova.

Anisimova was unsurprisingly left very disappointed after the defeat and indeed the manner of it, having lost after just 57 minutes.

Swiatek has risen to third place in the WTA rankings following her Wimbledon title, which represents her sixth career Grand Slam success.

ATP number one Sinner meanwhile played out a more competitive final with Carlos Alcaraz, who he beat 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 after three hours and four minutes.

Rafael Nadal has congratulated Sinner on his latest success, with Swiatek now doing the same in her reaction to their titles in London.

The Pole wrote on Instagram: “I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life and probably I never will.

“The way Wimbledon celebrates our sport is something else. I will cherish these memories forever. Thank you so much.”

She added: “Congratulations Jannik Sinner on making your dream come true. I’m so happy for you and your team.”

Iga Swiatek continues stunning Grand Slam finals record at Wimbledon

Swiatek was certainly not a name being considered by many to lift the prestigious trophy at the All England Club this season.

Most eyes were on WTA number one Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff, who had recently played out an exciting French Open final battle.

Moreover, former world number one Swiatek had suffered a rankings drop, and has been nowhere near her best this season.

Her grass court game was also not as impressive as many others, but perhaps that underdog status helped the Pole play out a more relaxed tournament.

And it was a tournament she concluded in stunning fashion, with the eighth seed storming past 13th seed Anisimova.

The victory means Swiatek has now remarkably won all six of her Grand Slam titles so far, with many more likely to come given she is just 24 years old.

The strength of the women’s game is also represented in her Grand Slam final history, with Swiatek having beaten a different player on each occasion.

The same really cannot be said of the men’s game right now, with Sinner and Alcaraz accounting for each of the last seven Grand Slam champions.
