And after the Celtic board’s statement on Saturday night, the Parkhead support have a big name Scottish band now standing in their corner against the Parkhead suits.

The Wakes call out the Celtic board’s ‘contempt’ for fans

Scottish folk band The Wakes released their own statement condemning the Celtic board, their treatment of supporters and how they gambled with the Champions League this season in a superb rant.

In a statement released on X, The Wakes said, “The contempt with which the Celtic board of directors holds Celtic supporters is no new thing.

“For decades, under this dynasty, we have each borne witness to the arrogant mismanagement of the club and the abhorrent mistreatment of fans.

“From the recent reckless gambling of Champions League qualification to its complicity in criminalising their own at the altar of the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act.

MORE CELTIC STORIES

“These sins cannot be absolved whilst this draconian leadership remains, enriching themselves at our collective expense.

“It was once said Celtic were a people and a Cause. We are a collective movement whose ancient Gaelic roots are founded in the uprising from oppression to clothe and feed our own in the harshest times.

“In the same spirit from which our fathers and mothers stood – and their fathers and mothers stood – so must we, for the continuation of our Celtic community and legacy.

“We stand with the North Curve in its request for transparency and accountability and, in accountability, we also stand with all supporters’ associations, calling No Confidence in these “custodians”.

“From desperation, came Celebration. The Wakes.”

Every single point was met with unified agreement as Celtic supporters continue to pile pressure on the board this week.

What now for the Celtic board

Well, the pressure on the Celtic hierarchy is not going to let up as all signatories to the open letter meet tonight at 7pm to discuss a way forward.

67 Hail Hail will attend the meeting where 420 signatories made up of fan media, CSCs and Ultras groups will discuss how to move forward in getting answers from the Celtic board.

In over 40 years of supporting Celtic, there hasn’t been a movement like this since the 90s when fan groups formed to save the club from going out of business.

The next few weeks are going to be very interesting indeed.
