Lancashire's Harry Singh scored his first fifty in the County One-Day Cup at Hove on Friday. Despite his impressive performance, Sussex secured a narrow one-wicket victory.Harry Singh, whose father Rudra Pratap Singh played two ODIs for India in the 1980s, made a significant impact in the match.After being put in to bat, Lancashire's Michael Jones and George Bell formed a strong opening partnership of 157 runs. The team later found themselves at 186/3 before Marcus Harris and Harry Singh combined for a 51-run fourth-wicket stand.Following Harris's dismissal by Sean Hunt, Singh partnered with George Balderson to add 47 runs. Henry Crocombe then claimed Balderson's wicket.With Lancashire at 284/6, Singh and Ollie Sutton contributed 30 runs for the seventh wicket. Singh's innings ended at 71 runs off 64 balls, including five fours and four sixes, when Crocombe dismissed him.Singh reached his fifty milestone in 44 deliveries, scoring a single off Danny Lamb, who is the brother of England all-rounder Emma.Watch:The young batsman, who made his One-Day Cup debut in 2024, previously had a highest score of 33 in nine innings.His latest knock of 74 from 61 balls now stands as his best List A performance.Singh comes from a cricketing family. His father, Rudra Pratap Singh, opened bowling with Kapil Dev for India in two ODIs against Australia in 1986. His sister Anjalie has played T20s for Lancashire and List A cricket for Cumbria.In addition to his batting, Singh bowled six overs of off-breaks, conceding just 18 runs.Sussex's successful chase of 339 set a new record for the team, surpassing their previous highest chase of 332 against Kent in 2017.
