Amanda Anisimova’s fairytale run has led her to the Wimbledon 2025 final.

The USA tennis star, ranked 12th in the world and making her first main draw appearance at the Championships since 2022, stunned world number one Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in the semi-finals on Thursday (11 July).

The 13th seed has pulled off her 13th career victory against a top-10 player — this time coming against the top-ranked player in the world in two hours and 36 minutes — to reach her first Grand Slam final.

“This doesn’t feel real right now honestly,” Anisimova said on court after reaching her maiden championship match. “Aryna is such a tough competitor and I was absolutely dying out there. I don’t know how I pulled it out.”

Anisimova will play the women’s singles final on Saturday (12 July), where she will face either Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic or Paris 2024 bronze medallist Iga Świątek.
