Goodnight, Reds!

Thank you for following today's Liverpool news and transfer rumours with us.

Make sure to come back tomorrow morning for more Reds updates throughout the international break!

International results

We've got the final outcome of all FIFA World Cup qualifiers across Europe tonight, with many Liverpool stars involved.

As mentioned earlier Giorgi Mamardashvili suffered defeat with Georgia against Turkey, now Florian Wirtz will be feeling the same regret as Germany have been dealt a shock 2-0 loss to Slovakia in Bratislava.

Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch played the entire match as the Netherlands drew 1-1 with Poland.

And finally it was victory for Conor Bradley, who helped Northern Ireland earn a 3-1 win over Luxembourg.

Marc Guehi battle

Liverpool's failure to sign Marc Guehi on transfer deadline day can really be put down to no fault of their own, however it now looks like it could become a costly outcome.

That is because The Mirror report that the Reds could now find themselves in a battle against five European rivals for when the defender becomes a free agent, all who will have the advantage.

Foreign clubs will be allowed to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Guehi directly from January 1, 2026, whereas Liverpool would be forced to wait until his Palace contract's expiry six months afterwards.

The clubs in question are Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Real Madrid.

Rio Ngumoha claim

Defensa Central would claim Real Madrid have eyes on Liverpool talent Rio Ngumoha.

The winger became Liverpool's youngest-ever and the Premier League's fourth-youngest-ever goalscorer when he netted the Reds' stoppage-time winner at Newcastle United little over one week ago, which was days before his 17th birthday.

There are already high hopes he will be a star of tomorrow at Anfield, however here this report from Spain would suggest Los Blancos have designs on stealing him later down the line.

Reds on international duty

We may have no Liverpool action to report on for over a week but that does not mean their stars aren't in action. The international break fully gets underway tonight with some European FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Unfortunately it has not been a good start to the break for Giorgi Mamardashvili, who has suffered a 3-r defeat with Georgia against Turkey in an early kick-off.

At 7:45pm the next wave of matches get underway and there are plenty of the Reds in action. First up, Florian Wirtz starts for Germany - seemingly in a left-sided role - against Slovakia.

Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch are all in the Netherlands line-up for their match against Poland.

And lastly Conor Bradley is in for Northern Ireland, who take on Luxembourg.

Florian Wirtz value

As reported by the ECHO in June, Liverpool put down £100m up front to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. A further £16m made up of add-ons is to potentially take the deal up to £116m, which was a British-record amount before the Reds went and broke their own record with Alexander Isak's £125m arrival on deadline day.

Well, the CIES Football Observatory have been keeping a track of Wirtz since he came to Merseyside and have updated his estimated transfer value as of yesterday. They believe the 22-year-old is worth anywhere between €162m (£140m) and €189m (£163m).

That is some rise in just a matter of months, and proof from a world-renowned database of the gem Liverpool have on their hands.

Huge news out of Tottenham

Huge news concerning one of Liverpool's main Premier League rivals has broken this evening. Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed long-term chairman Daniel Levy has stepped down after almost 25 years.

A club statement read: "Tottenham Hotspur announces that Daniel Levy has today stepped down from his role as Executive Chairman after nearly 25 years.

"Tottenham Hotspur has been transformed over the last quarter of a century. It has played in European competitions in the last 18 of 20 seasons, becoming one of the world’s most recognised football clubs, consistently investing in its academy, players and facilities, including a new, world-class stadium and state of the art training centre. The club has also competed regularly at the highest level, enjoying a number of fantastic on-field successes, including the recent Europa League cup win.

"As part of its succession planning, the club has made a number of senior appointments in recent months. Vinai Venkatesham was hired as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with Thomas Frank as our new men’s head coach and Martin Ho as women’s head coach. Peter Charrington joined the board and will step into the newly created role of Non-Executive Chairman.

"This is all part of the Club’s ambition to ensure that it is set up to deliver long-term sporting success."

Levy is a minority shareholder in Spurs' majority owners, the ENIC Group. The club have confirmed this decision will not change the ownership or shareholder structure of the club, but it will certainly shake up one of the Reds' big rivals early this season.

Michael Olise interest

According to The Daily Mail's Lewis Steele, a big part of Liverpool's next big transfer agenda could be to secure a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian just signed a two-year contract extension in July to stay at Anfield until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, by which time he will be 35. If at that point or later down the line, Salah would depart Liverpool as a club legend, but he will know it is the club's duty to secure their long-term future too.

So, it is claimed Michael Olise of Bayern Munich 'can't be ruled out' as a target in the next two summer windows. He might even be top of the Reds' list, therefore could be one to watch.
