The Georgia Tech (aka “Georgia Institute of Technology”) Yellow Jackets are the latest team to unveil new uniforms for the 2025 NCAA Football season. The team has unveiled three sets of uniforms (white, Tech gold and dark gray) — but curiously, at least in the photographs the team has provided, no helmets were shown with any of the combinations. The new uniforms represent GTs first full uniform revamp since 2022, and will be on adidas’ latest “adizero X” design template. The uniforms are shown as mono-sets, but it’s believed the team will do some mixing and matching throughout the season.Naturally, the team produced a hype video (featuring players Jordan van den Burg, Haynes King, and Jamal Haynes):As you can see, the uniforms are relatively plain, with all three featuring gold and white stripes on the sleeve caps (gold/white/gold on the gray and white jersey, white/gold/white on the Tech gold jersey). All three jerseys have conference patch and maker’s mark, with a “GT” logo at the base of each collar, and bespoke uniform numbers on the front. All three sets of pants have stripes, in the same pattern as found on the sleeve cap, as well as a “GT” logo on the right hip.WHITE UNIFORMThe white jerseys include metallic Tech gold numerals with navy trim and two metallic Tech gold stripes on each sleeve.Additional photos:GOLD UNIFORMThe Tech gold jerseys are the reverse of the white jerseys, with white numerals/navy trim and white sleeve stripes. A metallic Tech gold stripe bisects the two white sleeve stripes on the Tech gold jerseys.GRAY UNIFORMAccording to the team, “The base color of the new dark grey design pays homage to the Institute’s past, present and future commitment to industry and technology.” Metallic Tech gold numerals are outlined in white, and the metallic Tech gold sleeve stripes are bisected by a white stripe.__________The Yellow Jackets will debut the new uniforms on Friday, Aug. 29 when they open the 2025 season at Colorado (8 p.m. ET – ESPN). The unis will be worn for the first time at home against Gardner-Webb on Saturday, Sept. 6 (3:30 p.m. – ACC Network Extra).I find it interesting the new uniforms are shown without helmets. And while I’ll need to see these in action and on the field, so far I’m not especially impressed. Here’s the uniforms these are replacing:The new uniforms aren’t quite a lateral swap of a few elements, but the most noticeable change is the stripe patterns on the sleeve caps and pants. The team still doesn’t seem able to create an “old gold” shade and I am not a fan of having metallic stripes (they look particularly “off” on the Tech gold jersey/pants). Another downgrade is the switch from dark blue to gray. The official colors are Tech gold and blue — but not gray. So we could say this new uniform is GFGS. And it’s also odd that the team still (barely) uses the blue, which serves as a number outline on the white and Tech gold jerseys, but apparently nowhere else. The uniforms may surprise me and look good on the field, but I’m not holding my breath.Your thoughts?
