Manchester United make enquiry about signing Chelsea midfielder

Chelsea have been looking to part ways with some of their current crop of players before the summer transfer window closes. This is because the Blues need to balance the books and also free up some space in the squad, if they are to make any further additions. And one potential addition is expected to be Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United.

Not too long ago, Garnacho was considered the next big thing at Manchester United. He was even being linked with a move to Real Madrid before he ended up signing a contract extension with them.

Things can change quickly in football though. That is exactly what has happened to Garnacho at Manchester United. He has gone from a fan favourite to someone the Man Utd support wants to see depart as soon as possible.

It has been widely reported that Garnacho only wants to join Chelsea this summer. And there is an interesting update about regarding those talks.

It looks like Manchester United have their eyes on Andrey Santos. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, while appearing on The United Stand YouTube channel, Ben Jacobs said:

"What I can tell you is that when discussions have been ongoing for Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea, Andrey Santos has been spoken about."

Jacobs did point out though that Chelsea are not interested in parting ways with Santos. So, at this point in time, that seems nothing more than a mere interest in the Brazilian midfielder on the part of Manchester United and is not expected to lead anywhere.

Of course, it will be important for Chelsea to find the right role for Santos. He is capable of playing in Enzo Fernandez's position or that of Moises Caicedo. So, that should help Enzo Maresca find a consistent place in the team for him, whether as a substitute or a starter.

As for Garnacho, the expectation is that he will end up at Chelsea this summer. He would bring some much-needed competition for Jamie Gittens, who struggled against Crystal Palace. It will be interesting to see what the transfer fee is, if or when that happens.

It is believed that Chelsea do not want to pay more than £30 million to sign Garnacho. On the other hand, Manchester United want around £50 million to part ways with the Argentine international. There is quite a gap in valuation.
