The World No.1 all-rounder smashed a fluent 53 off 77 balls, studded with five boundaries, but it was the weight of records that truly underscored the value of his innings. With this half-century — his sixth 50-plus score in the series — Jadeja became the first-ever batter to score six 50-plus scores in a single Test series in England while batting at No.6 or lower, surpassing the legendary Garry Sobers, who had five such scores in 1966.This also made him the first Indian batter to score six 50-plus scores in a Test series in England, going past records held jointly by Sunil Gavaskar (1979), Virat Kohli (2018) and Rishabh Pant (2025), all of whom had five.Jadeja has 516 runs in the series, becoming the first Indian batter to score over 500 runs in a Test series while batting exclusively at No.6 or lower. He overtook VVS Laxman's 474 runs at the same position during the 2002 tour of the West Indies. It doesn't stop there. This was Jadeja’s 10th 50-plus score in England (all at No.6 or lower), a figure that surpasses Sobers’ nine and is the joint-most by any visiting batter in England at those positions. In the list of most runs at No.6 or lower in an away Test series, Jadeja’s 516 now ranks third, behind only Sobers (722) and Pakistan's Wasim Raja (517). He also joined Sobers and Raja with the record for most 50-plus scores at No.6 or lower in an away series — six.The 36-year-old has already amassed one century and five fifties in this series, with his highest being an unbeaten 107 in the Manchester Test. With the ball, he’s chipped in with seven wickets, highlighting his all-round brilliance. He now becomes the third Indian to score 500-plus runs in this Test series, after captain Shubman Gill (754) and KL Rahul (532) — marking the first time three Indian batters have done so in the same series.Jadeja's record-breaking performance has added yet another layer of dominance to India's charge in one of the most fiercely contested series of recent times.
