Tyrone Mings admits Aston Villa weren’t at the races against Crystal Palace.

Unai Emery’s side fell to a 3-0 defeat at Villa Park, ending a 22-match unbeaten run on home soil in all competitions.

Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring from the spot in the 21st minute, before Marc Guehi and Ismaila Sarr added two more in the second half.

"It was not good,” Mings admitted on Sky Sports. “The goals we conceded are really poor.

"I have seen some tough times at this club and this isn't necessarily one of them. Now is the time to stick together.

"For it to go the way it did tonight is really disappointing. As defenders we have to take massive pride in keeping the ball out of the back of the net. I would love to tell you why our start of the season is so poor.

"Again, it is for us to stay calm and for us to act as professionally as possible. We are playing in the toughest league in the world, and you have to be right at it off the ball.

"The players that want to be here, now is the time to stay calm. The window will shut and we will see what players we have here."
