Alex de Minaur is rarely mentioned in the same breath as grand slam champions Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

De Minaur does not match their bulging trophy cabinets, but is the only other men’s player to reach at least the round of 16 at eight of the past nine majors. It is a nod to his remarkable reliability – and why his second-round loss to Alexander Bublik from two sets up at Roland-Garros this year was such a shock.

“What I pride myself on is showing up every single day. I can have good days or bad days on the tennis court, but ultimately, I’m still going to go out there and compete, and fight until the very last point,” de Minaur said.
