(Image: 2025 Getty Images)A handful of Manchester United youngsters were in action with their loan clubs last weekend.The new Premier League campaign begins in 11 days, but the English football league sprang into action across the weekend, with League One and League Two clubs starting their season.United have been proactive in the loan market this summer and some of the loanees were in action, including Dan Gore, who started and played 67 minutes for Rotherham as they won 2-1 against Port Vale.Gore re-signed for Rotherham this summer after making a strong impression with the Millers last term. That loan was disrupted by a foot injury, but Rotherham boss Matt Hamshaw was keen to sign Gore again.The midfielder made his senior debut for United in September 2023, but has suffered misfortune with a few injuries and is now looking to get his career back on the right track with Rotherham.Elsewhere in League One, Ethan Wheatley played the full game for Northampton Town as they lost 3-1 against Wigan. United staff carefully selected Northampton for Wheatley after a difficult first loan at Walsall.Article continues belowWheatley was handed a new three-year contract in March, with the option of an additional year.Jack Moorhouse also made his debut for Leyton Orient as they lost 3-0 to Huddersfield Town. Moorhouse, who was named in four first-team squads last term, played 34 minutes on his debut for Orient.In League Two, Joe Hugill started for Barnet and played just under an hour as they lost 2-0 against Fleetwood Town at home. Hugill was part of a relegated dressing room at Carlisle last season and has signed for Barnet for their first campaign back in the fourth tier after promotion from the National League.Sonny Aljofree played the entire match for Notts County as they drew 1-1 with Newport County, while Habeeb Ogunneye watched on from the bench as an unused substitute for the Welsh club.Elyh Harrison has a bruised foot and was left out of Shrewsbury Town's squad.Radek Vitek was also in action, albeit in a pre-season friendly for Championship club Bristol City.
