When Bryan Mbeumo made France U21 debut, he played with future Real Madrid star

Manchester United’s new signing Bryan Mbeumo played for France at the youth level before committing his senior international career to Cameroon.

Ruben Amorim is hoping that his new signings at Manchester United can help add goals to the team next season, especially after a disastrous campaign.

United go into the new competitive season after losing the Europa League and finishing 15th in the Premier League. In turn, that means there will be no Champions League football at Old Trafford for the second consecutive year.

After completing a move to United from Brentford, Bryan Mbeumo will hope he can provide the goals that will help take United back into the top four. That would give Amorim the foundations to go a step further as he continues to build his squad at United.

United also signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves before Diego Leon arrived from Cerro Porteno, despite agreeing a deal with the club in January.

As is the case every summer, United fans are excited to see what the new signings will bring in the new season.

Nowadays, Mbeumo is renowned as a Cameroon international.

That means United’s new signing already has a relationship with first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana, which could help him settle into his new surroundings.

During his youth career, however, Mbeumo represented France.

Mbeumo made his France U21 debut against Georgia in November 2019, coming off the bench to replace Moussa Diaby in the 83rd minute in a 3-2 win.

There were several big names involved in the game, including Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga and Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Mbeumo won 10 caps and scored one goal for France at U17, U20 and U21 level.

Following a meeting with Samuel Eto’o in 2022, Mbeumo decided to declare his senior international allegiance to the Cameroon national team.

Mbeumo missed the international fixtures this summer, but he is undoubtedly one of Cameroon’s best players.
