Man City sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan

Manchester City have completed the signing of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan on a five-year deal.

The 26-year-old, pictured above with Man City's director of football, Hugo Viana, arrives at the Etihad Stadium following a standout 2024/25 campaign in Italy, where he scored 15 goals in all competitions.

"City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players and outstanding facilities," Reijnders told the official club website.

"Under Pep Guardiola, City have won so many titles, and I want to help keep that going with a lot more success in the coming years.

"It is also a dream come true to play in the Premier League. This league has seen many of the best Dutch players perform through the years and it’s an inspiration to follow in their footsteps.

"I am really looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do."

Reijnders' performances earned him a place in the Serie A Team of the Season as well as the award for Serie A Best Midfielder of the Season.

With Kevin De Bruyne departing Man City this summer, Reijnders is expected to play a key creative role in Pep Guardiola’s side for the forthcoming 2025/26 season.

Reijnders' career so far

Reijnders was born on 29 July 1998 in Zwolle, Netherlands and began his career with PEC Zwolle in 2007 before moving to AZ Alkmaar in August 2017.

The midfielder made 128 appearances for AZ in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 15 assists. Apart from a few months on loan to RKC Waalwijk in 2020, he remained at Alkmaar until July 2023, when he made the move to Milan.

During his time at Milan, Reijnders made 104 appearances, contributing 19 goals and nine assists, and was part of the side that won the 2024/25 Supercoppa Italiana.

On the international stage, Reijnders made his debut for the Netherlands in 2023. He has earned 23 caps to date, scoring four goals, and was part of the Dutch squad that reached the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2024.

When could Reijnders first play for Man City?

Reijnders' first match in Man City colours could come against Wydad AC in the FIFA Club World Cup on 18 June.

On the same day, Man City will discover who their first opponents are for the 2025/26 Premier League season when the fixtures are released.
