Pakistan secured their spot in the 2025 Asia Cup final with an 11-run victory over Bangladesh in their Super 4s match in Dubai on Thursday, despite a batting mishap by Mohammad Haris that could have proved costly for the team. The match saw Pakistan posting 135/8 in 20 overs before their bowlers, led by Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf with three wickets each, restricted Bangladesh to 124/9. The Pakistan innings featured an unusual incident involving Mohammad Haris during the last delivery of the 10th over. While batting with captain Salman Ali Agha, Haris failed to complete his first run before attempting a second run, resulting in a short-run call by the officials.Watch: Pakistan's Mohammad Haris takes short run vs Bangladesh The sequence unfolded when Salman played a shot towards long-on off Mehidy Hasan's bowling. The batters initially completed what appeared to be a single, with Salman suggesting a second run which Haris initially declined. A fumble by Bangladesh's Rishad Hossain at long-on prompted both batters to attempt the second run. However, replays revealed that Haris had never properly completed the first run by grounding his bat inside the crease. The oversight resulted in Pakistan being awarded only one run instead of two, drawing attention from the commentary box as the commentators highlighted Haris's lapse in concentration. Despite this batting error, Pakistan's bowling attack proved decisive in securing the victory. The win set up a final clash against their arch-rivals India, scheduled for Sunday in Dubai. Pakistan captain Salman reflected on the team's performance after the match, stating: "If you win these kind of games, then we must be a special team. Everyone played really well. There is some improvement needed in batting. But we will work on that. Shaheen is a special player. He does what the team needs of him. Very happy for him. We were 15 runs short. The way we bowled up front, we will create pressure." The captain also emphasised the team's commitment to maintaining high standards, particularly in fielding, adding: "Mike Hesson said if you can't field, you won't be in the team. We are a good enough team to beat anyone. We will come back on Sunday and try and do that."
