Novak Djokovic’s 19th campaign at the US Open continued after he emerged victorious over home hope Zachary Svajda in four sets.The young American was off to a dream start when he drew first blood in the match by taking the first set off the 24-time Grand Slam champion in a tiebreak.His lead did not last for long, however, as Djokovic fought back to win the bout with a quick response, clinching the following three sets in comfortable fashion, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1.Though he walked away empty-handed, Svajda enjoyed an impressive performance against the four-time US Open champion and sent a message to his conqueror after exiting the tournament.Photo by Al Bello/Getty ImagesZachary Svajda’s message to Novak Djokovic after exiting the US OpenIn his on-court interview, Djokovic revealed he wished Svajda the best in the future at the net and acknowledged his struggle with an injury towards the end of the second set.The next day, the 22-year-old took to social media to say: “Little kid me wouldn’t believe this.“Sharing the court with my idol @djokernole.
