Tennis fans furious after Cincinnati Open final decision involving Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are all set for another reunion on the ATP Tour as they prepare to go head-to-head in the Cincinnati Open final.

Sinner is hoping for a high-level match with Alcaraz, with the final representing a repeat of the French Open and Wimbledon title matches this season.

The ATP Tour duo also met in the final of the Italian Open, and are now focusing on a 14th career meeting in Cincinnati, which has been expanded to two weeks from this year.

Alcaraz worked on his serve shortly after reaching the final, which he did via a 6-4, 6-3 semifinal win over Alexander Zverev.

And while many tennis fans will be counting down the minutes until the Cincinnati Open final, a handful have been left angry by its time and date.

Sinner and Alcaraz will meet on Monday at 3pm local time, with the ATP deciding the Cincinnati Open final schedule.

One furious fan wrote on X: “They should just go back to one week for every tournament except the Slams, and have some dark weeks on the calendar for rest. My tennis viewership really has declined since it’s become so hard to follow these irregular schedules.”

A second commented: “Masters finals on a Thursday and on a Monday. Brilliant stuff happening at the ATP and WTA.”

A third disappointed fan said: “A complete mess,” with a fourth writing: “What an absolute disaster of a tournament. Can we just skip Cincinnati next year?”

It is Alcaraz who holds the advantage over Sinner going into their latest match, having won eight and lost five of their matches.

But the momentum is somewhat with the Italian, who ended a five-match losing streak to the Spaniard in the Wimbledon final last month.

And while many tennis fans have been left confused and annoyed ahead of their latest clash, they should be very, very excited about what’s in store.

The last four matches of their stunning rivalry have all come in finals, with the five before that having come at the semifinal stage.

But perhaps it will take some time for the pair to outdo themselves from their unforgettable French Open final earlier this season.

The highly anticipated clash in Paris exceeded all expectations, in which Alcaraz beat Sinner 4-6, 6-7(4-7), 6-4, 7-6(7-3), 7-6(10-2) in thrilling fashion.
