BCCI is set to hold elections for top posts later this month and Sachin Tendulkar is rumoured to be among the possible candidates for the next board president.Ahead of the BCCI AGM later this month, a report emerged claiming that the board wants to appoint a legendary India cricketer as its next president. Later, another report claimed that batting legend Sachin Tendulkar could possibly succeed Roger Binny as the BCCI president.However, Tendulkar has categorically rejected the speculations, denying any such development has taken place.“It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)," SRT Sports Management Pvt Ltd said in a statement.“We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place. We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations," it added.BCCI, the world’s richest cricket board, will hold elections at its Annual General Meeting on September 28. Binny was appointed as the BCCI president in October 2022, and his tenure came to an end earlier this year after turning 70.As per the BCCI constitution, the post of president has an age cap of 70. The BCCI ombudsman and ethics officer will also be appointed during the AGM, along with the Board’s representative to the ICC.Although the election is supposed to cover all key positions in the BCCI, it effectively concerns only one post as the others are expected to retain their roles.BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who has completed three years in total -including two years and three months as joint secretary and nine months as secretary – is set to continue.Saikia was unanimously elected as secretary in January this year after Jay Shah assumed the role of chairman of the International Cricket Council. Other officials likely to continue are Rohan Gauns Desai, elected as joint secretary in March this year, and Prabhtej Bhatia, who was elected treasurer in January alongside Saikia.
