Hansi Flick and Pere Romeu, win 'Golden Bench' awards

Hansi Flick and Pere Romeu have been recognised by their peers as the best coaches of the 2024/25 season. The awards ceremony, organised by the RFEF Coaches' Committee, will take place on Saturday 21 June at 11.45am at the Hotel Meliá Castilla in Madrid, and marks the conclusion of two spectacular seasons.

Reasons for the awards

Beyond the coaches’ excellent sporting results in the top men’s and women’s football divisions, the awards also recognise exemplary conduct, respect and the transmission of values. Accordingly, both Hansi Flick and Pere Romeu are being honoured for upholding values that are highly regarded by both the RFEF and FC Barcelona.

Individual recognition

The German receives this award after being named Best Coach of the 2024/25 season and winning La Liga’s Coach of the Month title on three occasions. In what has been a remarkable season collectively, Flick is also being rewarded on an individual level.

As for the women’s team coach, this is his first individual award in his first season as head coach at the club. Romeu concludes an outstanding season with FC Barcelona Women, maintaining Barça’s position as the top team and on the domestic front achieving an impressive second place in the Champions League.

Other winners

The awards for the Barça coaches form part of a major event for Spanish football. The same ceremony will also honour several other renowned coaches across various disciplines linked to the RFEF.
