Bet of the Day - Edinburgh City to beat Sterling @ 5/4

Edinburgh City can get their Scottish League Two season underway with a capital victory over Sterling.

Manager Michael McIndoe will be working with a small and young squad once again, but that was no barrier to the 35-year-old, who steered his side to a third-place finish last term.

Sterling lost all four of their Scottish League Cup group stage games in the lead-up to the new league campaign, failing to score a single goal in those defeats, and they look set to struggle at Meadowbank.

Longshot of the Day - Livingston to win and both teams to score - No @ 19/4

Kilmarnock lost manager Derek McInnes to Hearts in the summer and there are major concerns for Killie going into the new season.

The Rugby Park side could finish only ninth in the Scottish Premiership last season, and with former captain Kyle Vassell also departing, Kilmarnock are starting the new campaign in a weaker position.

Corrie Ndaba, Bobby Wales, Danny Armstrong, Fraser Murray and Joe Wright have also made moves away from Killie, and bar this match being played on home soil, there is little to recommend Stuart Kettlewell’s men.

Livingston make the step up to the top flight following last season’s promotion and they should be a solid side under David Martindale.

Livi have won their last two matches to nil, while Kilmarnock drew 0-0 against Kelty Hearts two matches ago before losing on penalties, and the visitors could be worth a look to win this contest with a clean sheet.

Special of the Day - Acca - Montrose draw no bet v Hamilton, Blackpool to beat Stevenage & Bradford to beat Wycombe @ 11/1

Hamilton start the season in disarray and they can be opposed when Montrose come to town. John Rankin’s men won’t be playing their home games at New Douglas Park and you have to wonder how much support they will get with the current off-field issues.

The Accies lost their final three matches in the group stage of the Scottish League Cup and it looks worthwhile backing Montrose in the draw no bet market to start off this accumulator.

In League One, Blackpool will be hoping for a positive start to the campaign and they can achieve this by defeating Stevenage at Bloomfield Road.

The Boro won just six league games on the road last season and they may struggle to overcome a Blackpool side who have strengthened this summer and were strong at home in the 2024-25 campaign.

Finally, Bradford look like they can start off League One in style with a home victory over Wycombe, who have to pick themselves up after last season’s play-off semi-finals disappointment.

The Bantams earned automatic promotion from League Two last term and they boasted the best home record, winning 17 times and collecting 55 points at Valley Parade.
