Humiliated Pakistan players chant 6-0 in practice session to taunt India

Pakistani players have lost their minds after getting humiliated on the cricket field in the first round of Asia Cup 2025. Before the IND vs PAK clash on Sunday, Pakistani cricketers chanted 6-0, 6-0 in the practice session to taunt India based on fake news by the Pakistani government. The 6-0 is a reference to Pakistan’s baseless claims that they downed six Indian fighter jets during the four-day scuffle following Operation Sindoor.

Pakistan suffered a major embarrassment when Team India dismantled them in just 15.5 overs. India chased down a lowly target of 128 runs. But it continued as Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistani players. And as Pakistani players approached the Indian dressing room, they shut the door. India captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the victory to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and to the Indian armed forces. Humiliated, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha boycotted the post-match presentation.

More humiliation

Pakistan then lodged a complaint to the ICC against match referee Andy Pycroft. PCB accused him of asking both teams to refrain from shaking hands. However, ICC rejected the baseless allegations as shaking hands is merely a gesture and not a rule. Pakistan Cricket Board threatened to boycott the match against the UAE if Pycroft was not removed. They held the PAK vs UAE as ransom to negotiate.

However, ICC did not budge and informed them that if Pakistan boycotted the game, they would be fined and could lose up to $15 million. But in the end, they agreed to play, delaying the match by an hour. However, Andy Pycroft continued as the match referee and he would remain in his position even on Sunday for the IND vs PAK Super 4 match in Asia Cup 2025.

Since that incident, Pakistan have boycotted the pre-match press conference ahead of India match.

Charged up IND vs PAK match on the cards

With no success on the ground and at the ICC, Pakistan are on the back foot. They have called up a motivational speaker cum psychologist for the players so that they can avenge their loss against India. Asian Cricket Council and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi also met with Pakistani players and tried to motivate them.

On the other hand, the India camp remained calm. Captain Suryakumar Yadav avoided the name “Pakistan” at the post-match presentation and also in the pre-match pressers. Team India had an optional practice session that coincided with Pakistan’s practice on Saturday. But India wrapped up their training with only Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakaravarthy hitting the nets.

With all that has happened in this one week, the IND vs PAK match on Sunday will be different. It could be the most charged-up match for both teams as losing is not an option for either.
