Marc Guehi reacts to Ben Chilwell message as Liverpool interest grows

Marc Guehi has responded to Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell amid speculation the Crystal Palace defender could be on the move this summer.

Premier League champions Liverpool are one of the club’s interested in Guehi, who has just one year left remaining on his current Palace deal.

Guehi has starred in defence for Palace since switching to South London from Chelsea in 2021.

The England defender was part of the team that delivered the club their first ever major trophy when they defeated Manchester City in last season’s FA Cup final.

Guehi looks set to leave Palace this summer.

Guehi reacts to Chilwell message

Chilwell took to Instagram (1 July) to post a trio of photos of him on holiday enjoying time off from football, which was liked by Guehi.

The 28-year-old was on loan at Palace in the second part of last season making eight appearances for the club.

Chilwell captioned his post: “Blue like the view.”

The former Leicester City left-back still has two years remaining on his contract at Chelsea, but is not part of Enzo Maresca’s future plans.

Palace and Chelsea have been in talks over a transfer as the defender searches for more playing time.

Guehi continues to be a subject of interest in this summer transfer window, and Liverpool looks to be the most likely destination.

With uncertainty of Ibrahima Konate and his contract situation at Anfield and after the departure of Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen, Arne Slot needs another centre-back.

Guehi has become an England international off the back of his impressive Premier League performances and he looks likely to be in the Three Lions squad for next summer’s World Cup.

Playing in the Champions League and alongside Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool every week will only help improve the 24-year-old’s game.

Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle have also expressed interest, but the lure of the Premier League champions could be too much for Guehi to resist.

Oliver Glasner would need to replace Guehi and the Austrian already looks to have a replacement lined up in Middlesborough’s Rav van den Berg.

Glasner will also hope to do a deal to bring Chilwell permanently to Selhurst Park ahead of a potential European campaign next season which will require plenty of squad depth.
