The removal is to take place this evening in Waterville, Co Kerry, of the legendary Kerry football player and manager Mick O'Dwyer.His remains will repose this evening at Fitzgerald’s Funeral Home in Waterville followed by removal to St Finian’s Church at 8.30pm.Mick O'Dwyer died yesterday at the age of 88.His funeral mass will take place tomorrow morning at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.President Michael D Higgins led the tributes, saying that Mr O'Dwyer will be remembered as "one of the greatest figures ever to be associated with Gaelic Games".He expressed his deepest sympathies to his family, teammates, former players and his many friends.Taoiseach Micheál Martin said it was with great sadness that he had learned of the passing of Mr O’Dwyer."He was an iconic figure, particularly during the 1970s," he said, a decade that had marked a new era in GAA management."From a Cork perspective all of us remember Mick O'Dwyer saying before every Munster championship final that Cork were the second best team in the country," he laughed."That great capacity to butter us up," he said, noting that Cork had won some back.He said Mick O'Dwyer was a wonderful figure in the GAA, a great modern coach and a great footballer.Read more:Legendary Kerry manager Mick O'Dwyer dies aged 88Micko: A true giant who built an unforgettable legacyMicko was unique - his legacy will last forever
