Man Utd transfer twist as Jadon Sancho handed shock Premier League lifeline

Jadon Sancho could yet be offered the chance to continue his career in the Premier League rather than abroad as Nottingham Forest plot a surprise swoop for the winger.

Sancho, 25, has no future at Manchester United and spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Chelsea, who had an obligation to make the move permanent. However, a deal collapsed over personal terms and Sancho's future is still uncertain as the new season looms.

A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in signing Sancho, including Juventus and Napoli from Serie A.

But a new report from The Sun claims that Nottingham Forest have now rekindled their interest in the attacker, who they were heavily linked with last summer.

It's said that Evangelos Marinakis, Forest's owner, is prepared to 'bankroll' a move for Sancho after the club lost his former United team-mate, Anthony Elanga, to Newcastle earlier this month.

Elanga was allowed to leave Old Trafford back in the summer of 2023 and flourished with Forest. The report adds that there is a feeling amongst the club that Sancho could embark on a similar redemption arc at The City Ground if a deal can be struck for his signature.

United want to offload Sancho for good this summer after seeing the versatile attacker return from his stint at Stamford Bridge.

And while interest in Sancho has materialised from overseas amid Manchester United's reported £25million asking price, a sticking point seems to the player's salary.

Napoli and Juventus have both been linked with Sancho, with reports earlier this week claiming that the player is keen on the idea of starting afresh in Turin with the latter.

But it remains to be seen if interest from Nottingham Forest, who now look set to play in the Europa League next season, will turn Sancho's head and lead to him staying in England.

Sancho joined United back in the summer of 2021 in a £73m deal from Borussia Dortmund but struggled to impress. He was later exiled by Erik ten Hag and has spent time on loan back at Dortmund and with Chelsea in the last two seasons.
