Manchester United have been busy in the summer transfer window with Matheus Cunha through the door and Bryan Mbeumo edging closer to joining him.

The double signing will see United's spending surpass the £120million mark, something that seemed very far-fetched following their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham at the end of May.

United have been forced to splash the cash in the early stages of the transfer window after recording their worst season in 51 years, consequently missing out on European football for the 2025/26 campaign.

Once Mbeumo comes through the door, United will have to place their focus in balancing pursuing more targets and selling players. Some big names could depart Old Trafford this summer but there are doubts over their ability to offload unwanted players such as Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Casemiro is another player who had seemed to be up for sale but the defensive midfielder enjoyed a resurgence under Ruben Amorim in the second half of last season. However, reports from Saudi Arabia this week have claimed that the Brazilian is close to joining Al-Nassr this summer.

Those reports have gone quiet in the last few days but news of Cristiano Ronaldo's contract extension at the club could accelerate a move. The 40-year-old has agreed a new two-year deal at Al-Nassr, ending speculation about his departure.

According to journalist Santi Aouna, the former United forward has received guarantees from the country's Public Investment Fund to build a competitive team with Ronaldo set to be a 'main decision-maker' in Al-Nassr's squad building.

The journalist has also claimed that Faris Najd wants to sign a new centre-back, defensive midfielder and left winger, at the very least, this summer. After playing with Casemiro previously at United and Real Madrid, Ronaldo could be the key dictator in a third reunion with the Brazilian this summer.

Casemiro isn't expected to bring in a hefty transfer fee that the likes of Garnacho and Antony are valued at, but his reported £375,000-per-week wages being removed from United's wage budget would see a whopping £19.5m saved.

A recent report from The Times has claimed that United will be in the market for a striker, a wing-back, a midfielder and a goalkeeper once Mbeumo signs.
